About NappyGear...
A journey, an awakening, a new attitude...many people call it many different things, but it all comes down to 1 simple act:
The determination that natural hair is beautiful, it's not necessary to continue to abuse our hair, that beauty comes from within. I've read hundreds of Natural Hair Journeys, I've heard so many stories about Nappy Hair - I lived it!
There comes a time in all of our lives that we experience life altering events - for some it's the birth of a child, for others it's the loss of a loved one, sometimes it's something very big and sometimes it's very small. But that event changes our view, not only of our situation but of our selves. We look inside, we realize what is really important and we continue our lifes journey, with with a new attitude and a revised map.
My name is Judy Dallas, and I opened NappyGear in 2005. I sat in the chair of Napps, Kinks, & BBs in Columbus, OH, getting my "Napps Busted" watching the television footage of Hurricane Katrina.
It had taken me 5 years to even decide that I was really sick and tired of Hair Drama. I had spent so much time and money during those 5 years of indecision, relaxers, weaves, wigs, braids, texturizers, long hair, short hair, curling irons, flat irons, gels, oils, sprays, conditioners, beauty shops, african braiders, girlfriend hookups, headbands, wraps, the list goes on and on and the price tag for just 5 years exceeded $5,000.
I can hear you asking $5,000? Averages out to $83 per month, or a little less than $1000 per year.
Do the math yourself. How much do you spend monthly on your Hair? $40? $60? $100? Multiply that times 12. My point exactly.
Now I spend less than $500 per year - which includes products, shampooing, loc tightening, color touchups, lovely scalp massages, and most important of all getting together with beautiful men and women with Nappy Hair.
No, it's not just about the money, its about the moment when you accept the Crown of Glory that you were given at birth, is beautiful, and what makes you unique, and realize that Nappy is no longer a bad word.
NappyGear.com will provide education, networking, and resources to help you Celebrate Your Natural Style.
Thank you for spending time with us, share our site with your friends, and please comeback often.
